COMING SOON.. ELLA'S KITCHEN & CAFE!
Ella's
Kitchen & Cafe is my pride and joy. Ella Murphy Wald was my
Irish-Latina grandmother and she raised my sister Marlynn and I through
our childhood years.
During those years she taught us and
demonstrated daily cooking natural foods from scratch. We drank whole,
possibly unpasteurized and non-homogenized milk (she shook the milk
before pouring to mix the cream at the top into the milk), we ate all
kinds of vegetables from rutabagas to eggplant, we ate soups in
mineral-rich homemade bone broth, cereals made from whole grains soaked
over-night and cooked fresh that morning, and meats purchased fresh from
the butcher that day and prepared for dinner that evening. Gramma even
made hot cocoa from scratch using whole milk, cocoa powder, and sugar.
Sissy
and I didn't know any different and we thrived rosy-cheeked and robust
under Gramma's care. Except for the chicken-pox, the mumps, and a
stomach flu, I don't remember ever being sick with colds, chronic ear
infections, allergies or any of the ailments children suffer with today.
I thank God for providing Gramma to raise us. She is my earliest and
best inspiration for why I do what I do today.
